ACTIVE SHOOTER PATROL DEPLOYMENT
Course Description:
This course focuses on the core skillsets needed for Front Line Patrol personnel to effectively respond to an Active Shooter incident. Being able to effectively deploy the Patrol Rifle along with an options-based understanding of active threat interdiction tactics are crucial knowledge that all Officers serving in today's society should possess. This course focuses on realistic and contextual rifle skills to include engaging targets at distance, shooting with movement, shooting from cover, and engaging threats as a multiple Officer team. Active Threat Interdiction tactics teach 3, 2, and solo contact team deployment, structure movement and room clearing. Officers will leave the course with a better understanding and capability with the Patrol Rifle as well as contact team deployment tactics that are adaptable to the realities of responding to an Active Shooter incident.
Course outline:
Day 1: rANGE
- rIFLE marksmanship - closes quarters OUT TO 100 YARDS
- cORE AND ALTERNATE SHOOTING POSITIONS
- sHOOTING WITH MOVEMENT AND SHOOTING FROM AND AROUND COVER
- 2 officer TEAM MOVEMENT, COMMUNICATION, AND SHOOTING TACTICS
Day 2: interior practical applications
- eXTERNAL AND INTERNAL STRUCTURE MOVEMENT
- cqb IN aCTIVE sHOOTER rESPONSE
- cONTACT tEAM mETHODS - 3 AND 2 oFFICER TEAMS AND sOLO oFFICER rESPONSE
- practical exercises

Required Equipment:
Please be sure to bring the required equipment to the class. Keep in mind that the required equipment is simply the minimum. One of the goals of the course is to make you better at how you operate, please bring the equipment you deploy with in whatever your given assignment is.
Basic Gear:
- Duty Gear - appropriate for your given assignment
- Range Gear - Eye and ear protection
- Appropriate weather-related gear for time of year
- Water - Minimum of a gallon a day is recommended
- Optional: Plate carrier/Body Armor/Helmet/web gear
