Vehicle Assaults

Course Description:

This course teaches tactics and techniques for the frontline patrol officer to successfully manage high risk encounters around vehicles. Subject material spans from standard motor vehicle stop practices to team tactics with multiple Officers addressing a lethal threat. decision making scenarios are incorporated requiring reaction to subject actions with appropriate and accurate force. Ballistics are addressed showing the realities of vehicle cover and modern ammunition. Officers leave this course with an advanced and diverse depth of knowledge and experience as it pertains to vehicle encounters, ambushes, and threat response.

Core components:

- Vehicle Ballistics – Strengths, Weaknesses, and Realities

- Marksmanship and vehicles, adverse shooting positions, and the 720 fight

- Motor Vehicle Stop Best Practices and Threat/Ambush Response Tactics

- Patrol Rifle Integration and Vehicle Deployment Tactics

- Vehicle Engagements and Multiple Officer Response

- Vehicle Takedowns, Shield Integration, and Suspect Apprehension

- Wounded Officer Skills Development, Self-Aid, and Defense

Payable by credit card, check, or money order on the day of the course, or by department PO. If an invoice and/or W-9 are needed, please feel free to ask. 

Prerequisites:

Officers MUST demonstrate the ability to safely function in close proximity to other Officers while manipulating a firearm. Students who demonstrate they are unable to follow fundamental firearm handling safety rules, will be removed from the course. 

Required Equipment:

Please be sure to bring the required equipment to the class. Keep in mind that the required equipment is simply the minimum. One of the goals of the course is to make you better at how you operate, please bring the equipment you deploy with in whatever your given assignment is.

Basic Gear:

- Duty Gear - appropriate for your given assignment 

- Body Armor is required for this course - patrol vest or plate carrier is acceptable

- Range Gear - Eye and ear protection

- Appropriate weather-related gear for time of year

- Water - Minimum of a gallon a day is recommended

- Optional: Helmet

Weapons:

pATROL rIFLE - sLING AND 2 ADDITIONAL MAGAZINES (IF USING 20 ROUND MAGS, 3 ARE REQUIRED)

  • 400 rOUNDS OF rANGE aMMUNITION

dUTY hANDGUN - APPROPRIATE KYDEX AND/OR DUTY STYLE HOLSTER - 2 ADDITIONAL MAGAZINES

  • 300 ROUNDS OF RANGE AMMUNITION

Marking Cartridge Ammunition: 

This course incorporates the use of marking cartridge rounds (Simunition, UTM, Force on Force) against static targets. Each student will need access to marking cartridge weapon for use during the course. Students may utilize either a rifle or handgun marking weapon. Each student will need 100 rounds of marking cartridge ammunition for their respective system.

Instructors will have extra Simunition brand AR conversion bolts on hand for students to use at no extra cost. Students will be responsible for bringing the required ammunition, however. If utilizing one of our bolts, ammunition must be Simunition brand 5.56 rounds. May be marking (any color) or non-marking. 

If a student needs to obtain the required marking cartridge ammunition, please request rental during checkout or upon invoice request. Rental of required ammunition is $50 per student.
